
Bluesox were victorious against Chester 5-4 on Monday at 1701 Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064.
Bluesox opened the scoring in the first after Quinten Perilli singled, scoring one run.
A single by John Dunion extended the Bluesox lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
Chester jumped back into the lead in the top of the third inning after Jake Fallers walked, Bill Ford walked, Chris Kelly grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Schurgh singled to center field, each scoring one run.
A single by Chase Ecker gave Bluesox the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the third.
Ben Mutz earned the win for Bluesox. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none. Shane Benedict took the loss for Chester. The starter went one inning, giving up three runs on three hits, striking out two and walking three. DJ Newby opened the game for Bluesox. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and four runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four.
Chase Ecker set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Bluesox with two hits in three at bats. Bluesox turned one double play in the game. Bluesox didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ant Kelly had the most chances in the field with six.
Angel Velez, Bill Ford, Matt Jackson, and Schurgh each collected one hit for Chester. Chris Kelly, Bill Ford, and Schurgh each drove in one run for Chester. Chester turned one double play in the game. Chester were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Ben Ettien made the most plays with five.
