
Both teams were strong on the hill on Saturday, but Bluesox defeated Drexel Hill Ducks 2-1. Kevin McGovern started the game for Bluesox and recorded 21 outs.
Drexel Hill Ducks got on the board in the first inning after Austin Cannon singled, scoring one run.
Bluesox captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fourth after Peter Bozzone singled down the left field line, and Matthew Szychulski singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Kevin McGovern stepped on the hill first for Bluesox. The pitcher surrendered six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one. John Ortagae started on the mound for Drexel Hill Ducks. The pitcher allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Matthew Szychulski and Peter Bozzone were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Bluesox. Peter Bozzone led Bluesox with three hits in three at bats. Bluesox were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Christian Strickland had the most chances in the field with 10.
Austin Cannon went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Austin Cannon, Irv Fisher, Owen Hammond, George Nestor, Jaxon Kehoe, and Evan McCoach each collected one hit for Drexel Hill Ducks.
