UD BLUESOX

Bluesox got out to a 4-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 6-5 victory over Wayne Baseball on Thursday. Wayne Baseball closed the gap by scoring on a single, a sacrifice fly, and a ground out.

Wayne Baseball opened the scoring in the first after Matt Kane singled, scoring one run.

Christian Strickland singled down the left field line, which helped Bluesox tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Bluesox took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Adam Fine doubled to center field, Sammy Burman singled to the left side of the infield, and Christian Strickland doubled to center field, each scoring one run.

Matt Hamilton earned the win for Bluesox. The pitcher gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking four. Tommy Bradley took the loss for Wayne Baseball. The pitcher went two innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking none. Jack Bateman collected the save. Henry Murphy appeared in relief for Bluesox.

Adam Fine and Christian Strickland each collected two hits for Bluesox. Christian Strickland and Jack Bateman each drove in two runs for Bluesox. Adam Fine stole two bases.

Matt Kane provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Wayne Baseball with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Steven Wells led Wayne Baseball with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.
