Bluesox Walk-Off In Nail-Biter Against Drexel Hill Ducks

It came down to the wire on Friday, as Bluesox grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over Drexel Hill Ducks. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the seventh when Jake Virbitsky singled, scoring one run.

Drexel Hill Ducks opened the scoring in the fourth after Irv Fisher doubled, scoring one run.

Dan Gavlick homered to right field, which helped Bluesox tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth.

Drexel Hill Ducks took the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Chris Graziani singled down the left field line, and Quinn Bryan hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Bluesox captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the seventh after Brendan Till singled to right field, Adam Fine hit a sacrifice fly, and Jake Virbitsky singled to the right side of the infield, each scoring one run.

Ben Thorpe earned the win for Bluesox. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Pat Ahern took the loss for Drexel Hill Ducks. The reliever went one-third of an inning, giving up zero runs on one hit, striking out none and walking two. Matt Hamilton stepped on the hill first for Bluesox. The hurler allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking none. Liam Jung started on the bump for Drexel Hill Ducks. The righty surrendered two hits and one run over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three.

Gus Wright, Bluesox’s number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. Adam Fine, Brendan Till, Jake Virbitsky, and Dan Gavlick each drove in one run for Bluesox. Brendan Till led Bluesox with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Bluesox ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. Bluesox turned one double play in the game.
