
The bottom of the lineup helped Bluesox capture a 6-4 victory over Black Sox on Thursday at 901 Morton Ave, Folsom, PA 19033. Joey Suppa, Jason Hankins, and Jack Bateman combined for four of the team’s seven hits in the victory. They scored one run and drove in two.
A walk by Christian Strickland put Bluesox on the board in the top of the second.
Bluesox added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Tim Ford hit a sacrifice fly, and Black Sox committed an error, each scoring one run.
Black Sox tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Bobby Doherty, and a fielder’s choice by Danny Stickney.
Bluesox took the lead in the top of the sixth. Ecker hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give Bluesox the upper hand, 4-3.
Pat Collins singled down the right field line, which helped Black Sox tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the seventh, Bluesox broke up the tie when Jason Hankins drew a walk, scoring one run. Then a single by Jack Bateman followed to extend the lead to 6-4.
Nick Dieva stepped on the bump first for Bluesox. The pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking six. Aidan Johnson led things off on the bump for Black Sox. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking four. Jack Bateman appeared in relief for Bluesox.
Jason Hankins, Bluesox’s number eight hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Joey Suppa led Bluesox with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Tim Ford stole two bases. Bluesox turned one double play in the game.
Danny Stickney provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Black Sox with two runs batted in. Jeremy Stranix, Bobby Doherty, and Pat Collins each collected one hit for Black Sox. John Teehan paced Black Sox with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.
Next up for Bluesox is a game against Delco League Blue Jays on Saturday.
